Well-known Malayalam journalist and author V.K. Madhavankutty has left the Asianet channel television even as he was honoured by the nation over the weekend with a Padmashree.

Madhavankutty was one of the few people who launched the first Malayalam channel.

Among the pioneers, top media expert Sasikumar chose to quit the channel a few years ago.

Well-known media experts and writers B.R.P. Bhaskar and Sakraia also parted ways with the channel.

Madhavankutty's weekly programme in the channel was stopped abruptly and a comparatively junior journalist was appointed above him in New Delhi.

"I have been on leave from November 1. I have just sent my letter of resignation," Madhavankutty said.
