James Lyford and Nicholas Yates re-enforced their National Cadet Class challenge respectively, with superb wins last Friday in the Al Naboodah/Goodyear sponsored tenth round of the UAE Kart championship at Jebel Ali.

Lyford - aiming for his second consecutive round victory faltered in the first  and second heat as the improving Bradly Hale provided a formidable defence of his position holding up Lyford and, leaving Rahul Love to run away with both races.

However, Loves luck took a significant turn for the worst in heart three as the mechanical gremlins returned. A collision with Chris Lovett in heat three relegated him to eighth. A subsequent bent steering rod in the final then saw him exit the track onto the gravel at the end of the straight due to significantly reduced grip.

"I didn't notice the bent rod," said a dejected Love. "Next time I'll check the kart over more carefully." However, in the Cadet class, Nicholas Yates kept on track all the way with a perfect four wins out of four races, leaving Thiabu Leggat in second place and Ken Waterhouse third.

In the International class Hissette's sixth win in a row would suggest that the Championship looks to be heading his way, only a resurgent Mike Wilkes threatened on the day, winning the first heat and almost taking the Final as both drivers enthralled the crowd by swapping positions six times before Hissette eventually lifted the chequered flag.

For the Leopards, Graeme Mortimer was again victorious following some white-knuckle racing with Sheikh Abdulaziz Al Nuaimi and Peter Chilestil. Leaving. The next meeting will take place on November 24.
