Visitors to Deira City Centre were overwhelmed yesterday with the 70-metre-long vegetable sushi roll which was prepared by Dubai's chefs for the Food Surprises week.
Visitors who were watching the making and display of the roll, later had an opportunity to taste a slice each from the giant product as these were being distributed amongst them.
A team of chefs from some of Dubai's leading hotels joined hands under the patronage of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) to prepare the longest vegetable sushi roll at Deira City Centre.
"Gigantic sizes of culinary dishes tickle visitors imaginations and attract them to the malls where the Food Surprises events and activities are being held," said DTCM deputy manager events, Marwan Juma bin Beyat.
The ingredients used in the making of the sushi roll include rice, seaweed, wasabe (Japanese mustard) and artificial crabmeat.
The longest vegetable sushi roll is one among a host of events organised by the DTCM for the ongoing Food Surprises week that, in addition to food events, also includes a variety of entertainment activities ranging from performances by comic strip character Garfield to jumping acrobatic tomatoes and chef Hairan to crazy jugglers.
