Kris vows to file suit against ex-lover
Kris Aquino, the popular TV game show host and daughter of former President Corazon Aquino, has vowed to file a case against her estranged boyfriend, Joey Marquez, mayor of suburban Paranaque, for attempted homicide.
However, Marquez's lawyer has backed out of the case.
Frank Chavez, former solicitor general of ex-President Aquino, said: "After talking with Mayor Marquez for three-and-a-half hours, I have decided not to participate in the case."
"I could not stomach the damaging revelations that he told me about Kris. Once the case is in court, the cross examination will be very stressful and embarrassing. I don't want to do that. I don't want to hurt Kris. And I don't want to hurt the feelings of her mother who is so kind and has many problems right now," said Chavez.
The young Aquino said the issue should be filed in court, "because of one fight, he could not control his temper and was ready to shoot me. (At that time) I told him, 'Don't do that to a daughter of someone who was assassinated'."
Narrating how their fight occurred on Monday night, she said: "It happened when I told him, enough, Joey, I want out, I'm leaving. Then he got his gun and pointed it at me. He must have come to his senses when he threw out the gun's magazine, but he kept pointing the gun at me which had a bullet in the chamber."
"Until now, I still tremble in fear. Whenever I close my eyes, I can still hear him cocking his gun," said Aquino.
"He had guns. I don't know how many. There was one that I would always see," she said.
Last Monday, in a report to the Philippine National Police (PNP), she accused her former lover of "physical violence" and "emotional terrorism." Marquez denied that he had hurt her or had pointed a gun at her.
The ending of their one-and-a-half-year affair started with a text message from a certain Mariz. "It must be a code. I was able to read parts of it, which said, 'I could not believe what you did."
Marquez erased the message, but it was sent twice, prompting both to grapple for the cell phone until he was forced to throw it away.
She accused him of giving her a physical ailment because of his womanizing, of having beaten her for a long time, and of luring her into an unusual relationship.
"He gave me a sexually transmitted disease in March and was treated in August", Aquino revealed.
