Jordan's King Abdullah will today inaugurate the sixth annual conference of the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR). The conference, entitled "Leadership and Management in the Information Age", will run until November 7. King Abdullah will deliver the keynote address.
Jordan's King Abdullah will today inaugurate the sixth annual conference of the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR). The conference, entitled "Leadership and Management in the Information Age", will run until November 7. King Abdullah will deliver the keynote address.
The meeting will discuss issues raised by political and scientific developments. It also targets ECSSR's mission to chart future developments concerning the vital issues which coincide with the challenges of the 21st century.
In addition, the free flow of information, accelerated technological developments, and advances made in scientific and sociological fields which require a new and imaginative understanding of leadership and management methodologies will be addressed.
The conference will discuss other vital issues such as the roles and challenges of leadership, techniques for effective business management and methods for restructuring the public sector to enhance its efficiency and effectiveness.
Fundamental issues such as management of the national economy in the global marketplace, the building of nations, effective ways of leading change and management of national security and defence policy will also be tackled.
Other topics include the management of genetic engineering research and its socio-economic implications and effective approaches to the field of human resources as well as the controversial issue of cloning.
There will be a panel of distinguished international senior researchers, intellectuals and Nobel Prize laureates.
Dr Robert Mundell, 1999 Nobel Laureate in Economics from Columbia University, will present a paper entitled "Management of the National Economy in the Global economy".
The keynote address on the third day is entitled "His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Nation Building", to be delivered by ECSSR.
