International bowling tourney begins today

The Khalifa International Bowling Centre will host an international bowling tournament from August 21-September 19.

Top stars from the UAE, GCC and Asia are likely to take part in the tournament which offers a prize money of Dh 30,000 and a gold cup for the winner.

UAE bowlers including Naif Ogab, Mohammed Khalifa Al Qubeissi, Hulaiman Al Hamly, Sultan Al Marzougi in addition to Ahmed Shaheen, Khalifa Al Qubeissi from Qatar will match wits against the participants from Asian countries like Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.

The first round will commence today with weekly prizes for the highest game and series while the runners-up of the tournament will get Dh20,000 in addition to a silver cup and Dh12,000 and a bonze cup for third place.

All 12 top players at the end of the tournament will get cash prizes. The UAE Bowling Federation said that the event will help in preparing the local and regional players for the Asian Games.
