Indian ladies to organise funfair

The Indian Ladies Association School will organise a funfair on Friday to commemorate 25 years of its existence in the capital.

The funfair, which includes a number of colourful events, has been designed by staff and students of the school.

An official yesterday said the event will be inaugurated on Friday by K.C. Singh, Indian Ambassador to the UAE, at 9.30am at the association's premises. The ambassador will be accompanied by his wife, Vinu Singh, who is the President of the association.

The association is an organisation of Indian ladies involved in various socio-cultural and charitable activities. The association was founded by Salma Ansari in 1976 who felt the need for a safe and homely place for children of working Indian women.

A creche, nursery and a kindergarten were established on October 12, 1977. The school started with 12 children and now has 850.

"Our aim has always been to mould and nurture the minds of the children with the utmost care and protection," said Sylvia Pais, Principal of the school.
