Sharjah: An Indian expat doctor in the UAE tragically lost her life in an accident while she was on the way home from an airport in the south Indian state of Kerala on Monday morning.

She had lost her husband two years ago and is survived by two children, the family said.

Reports in the Indian media said the accident occurred while Dr Bindu was heading home early in the morning after landing at the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport from Dubai. Media reports said the driver had fallen asleep at the wheel and was also injured.

A family friend in Sharjah said Dr Bindu’s daughter, a university student in the UAE, is scheduled to fly home on Monday evening. “She was alone at home when her mother went to Kerala for a short trip. She is currently with my family. Someone from the medical centre will be accompanying her to Kerala,” he said.

He added that Dr Bindu’s son is studying medicine in Thiruvananthapuram.
