DUBAI: Birthdays by the beach, on ice or at a poolside are all fine, but have you heard of a children’s party at a fire station involving real firemen driving real fire engines – all for free?

Wishful thinking you might say, but a Dubai Civil Defence station has indeed been making it possible for kids and if you have been scouting the city for an out-of-the-ordinary venue for your child’s next big bash, worried about spending a fortune over it, then this is the place to go to. The only catch though for getting a birthday bash organised at Al Manara Fire Station is that every little guest must attend a safety drill using fire engine fire hose and other real-life equipment.

Real life lessons

Like any other birthday party, a get-together here too is full of fun and frolic, but once the party starts, the children here get something they won’t get anywhere else - a private tour of the fire station and a free ride atop a fire truck with all lights flashing. What’s more the groups even get a chance to use a real fire hose to play with and get wet. “It’s our way of showing young ones first-hand, how firefighters work,” a staff at the Al Manara fire station told XPRESS.

However parents looking to celebrate a special occasion at this Shaikh Zayed Road venue say it’s a ‘sweet deal’ like no other. “It can’t get any better than this. First of all, we save the huge costs involved in renting a place in Dubai and more importantly, our children get some invaluable real life lessons,” said Roshni Maity who is planning to host her daughter’s seventh birthday at the station later this year.

Many who have already held parties for their kids at the sprawling fire station in Al Manara community in the past described their experience as truly unique.

“We had the time of our lives. It was a great venue, perfect for our son’s third birthday and the best part was seeing the firemen come in a fire truck and cool everyone off with a hose,” said a mum.

“Simply unbelievable experience,” said Amanda, another Dubai mum, who threw a special Lego fireman theme party for her son recently.

“They love hosting parties so much and do it so well that their booking system is pretty full,” said Rachel, another mother who held a similar bash for her daughter’s fifth birthday.

“You can order any food and set up any theme you like,” she added.
