Nahyan hosts Pink Caravan riders

Minister lauds the initiative to spread breast cancer awareness and conduct screenings

Last updated:

Abu Dhabi Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, said the Pink Caravan initiative reflects the values of solidarity in the UAE society, the values which were set by the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

The remark was made during the welcome lunch by Shaikh Nahyan to the Pink Caravan's riders and organising committees at his Palace in Abu Dhabi yesterday, after the riders completed the ninth day of the Pink Caravan's horseback journey which also visited Al Samha and Al Shahama on their way to Abu Dhabi.

Shaikh Nayhan said this wide participation for Emirati youth in the Pink Caravan reflects their keenness on spreading awareness on breast cancer and playing a role in social responsibility.

He wished the Pink Caravan all success in achieving its aims, and thanked all those who contributed to the Pink Caravan success story.

Abu Dhabi leg of tour

The Pink Caravan's riders kicked off their round in Abu Dhabi at Al Samha early morning and went on to Al Shahama, completing 263 kilometres since the second Pink Caravan's horseback journey started. The medical team was present at St. Mary's School in Dubai, where a high demand for breast cancer early detection exams and screenings was reported.

The Pink Caravan's riders will culminate their ride at the Armed Forces Officers Club in Abu Dhabi, while the medical teams will continue their work until April 17, with the aim to complete 5,000 screening tests.
