Group expands services to ensure timely care for end-stage kidney disease patients
On World Kidney Day, Mediclinic is offering a Kidney Health Screening package so that people can take a proactive step towards protecting their health. The group encourages people with diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, a family history of kidney disease and even those experiencing symptoms such as fatigue, swelling or changes in urination to undergo the screening to detect potential problems early for treatment.
As the first private healthcare group in Dubai to conduct a kidney transplant, in association with the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Health Sciences, and with 68 successful transplants to date, Mediclinic has been at the forefront, providing world-class kidney care and transplantation services, combining innovation, efficiency and patient-centric care. The group has been expanding its network of kidney services that allow even greater availability of dialysis services for both UAE residents and visitors, and better access to kidney transplants for those suffering from end-stage renal disease.
Mediclinic offers one of the fastest workups for transplantation in the region, ensuring a streamlined process for patients in need. Additionally, with a short waitlist for kidney surgery, eligible patients receive timely and lifesaving care without prolonged delays. It also provides advanced laboratory and renal biopsy services, ensuring precise diagnosis and optimal treatment planning.
Aligned with national healthcare initiatives, Mediclinic also supports the UAE government’s organ donation programme, encouraging both living and deceased organ donation. This continuous collaboration aims to raise awareness and improve access to life-saving transplants. It is exemplified by the introduction of the Hayat room at Mediclinic City Hospital in Dubai, in association with the Ministry of Health and Prevention, where families with loved ones reaching the end of life are afforded the time and space to consider the option of organ donation.
Mediclinic was also selected by Dubai Health to participate in a unique Public-Private Partnership (PPP), operating two standalone renal centres in Dubai in Al Barsha and Al Tawar, which cater to a large and growing patient base. These centres, in addition to dialysis units in a number of Mediclinic hospitals in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, provide flexible scheduling options tailored to meet patient needs.
“Mediclinic is proud of the contribution it has made to improving the quality of dialysis and kidney transplant services in the UAE,” says Dr Pietie Loubser, Chief Medical Officer, Mediclinic Middle East. “In conjunction with the UAE government, it is our privilege to continually innovate and expand our offerings to ensure that all those suffering from end stage kidney disease have access to the care and treatment they need, when they need it.”
Understanding the diverse requirements of kidney patients, Mediclinic extends its services beyond hospital settings by offering home dialysis solutions and facilitating dialysis treatments for travelling patients. These initiatives ensure continuous care and convenience for individuals managing chronic kidney disease.
