Dubai: Eisa Al Maidour, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority, followed up on the polio vaccination drive by visiting the school health clinic at Al Mawakeb School and the dedicated polio vaccination call centre at Nad Al Hammar primary health centre. The drive is part of the national campaign organised by the Ministry of Health in partnership with the DHA and the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi (HAAD).

The first phase of the campaign that began on November 16 will continue until November 27, while the second phase will run from January 11 to 22, 2015.

Al Maidour said, “It is our aim to ensure every child in Dubai below the age of five years receives the free-of-cost polio vaccine and therefore we are working with schools as well as providing this vaccine in all 14 primary health-care centres.”

Dr Manal Taryam, CEO of the primary healthcare sector, said: “The DHA has provided additional training for 116 schools that have vaccine qualified clinics so that they can effectively administer the polio vaccine in school campuses. The remaining 53 schools in Dubai will notify the parents of the various health centres where the vaccination can be obtained.”

In order to receive the vaccine, parents are requests to carry their children’s passports and Emirates ID. If they do not have that then they can carry their passport or their Emirates ID.
