Gulf-Kerala ship service soon, says Hassan

Last updated:

The proposed Gulf-Kerala shipping service will soon be launched for the benefit of Keralites working in the Gulf, according to Non-Resident Keralites Affairs (Norka) Minister M.M. Hassan.

Speaking at a public function here, he noted that three memoranda of understanding were signed in this regard at the Global Investment Meet (GIM) held in Kochi in January.

In view of Air India's refusal to reduce the air fare on the Gulf-Kerala route the shipping service would prove to be highly beneficial to the Keralites in the Gulf.

Though the Kerala government had reduced the tax on aviation fuel hoping a cut in the air fare nothing had happened, he added.

Meanwhile, official sources said Industry Minister P.K. Kunjhalikutty and Port Minister M.V. Raghavan would visit the Gulf to follow up some of the projects discussed at the GIM.
