Sharjah: Police came to the aid of a group of Russian pilgrims stranded in Sharjah. They were on way to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah when their vehicle broke down.

The group of elderly Russian people have travelled through various countries before they arrived in Sharjah. After the bus they were travelling in broke down, the group of seven women and three men were stranded in Sharjah for several days. And while in Sharjah, their visas expired.

When Sharjah Police came to know about the pilgrims' plight, the officers stepped in to help the Russians.

The elderly people were provided accommodation and the police coordinated with Saudi officials to fix their visas.

Major General Saif Al Ziri Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, said Sharjah Police’s responsibility stems from the values of "our people and its traditions in the treatment of guests, patients and passers-by".

The wise leadership of the country helps in providing humanitarian aid to anyone in need.
