The UAE also renews its call for an immediate ceasefire in Sudan
Abu Dhabi: The UAE has strongly condemned an attack on a humanitarian convoy near the town of Mellit in North Darfur, Sudan, describing it as a “flagrant violation of international humanitarian law” and urging the warring factions to uphold their obligations to protect civilians and aid workers.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the need for all parties in Sudan’s conflict to honour the Jeddah Declaration, which is designed to safeguard civilian lives and guarantee the safe passage of humanitarian aid. “The security and protection of civilians and humanitarian personnel must be prioritised above all else,” the ministry said.
The UAE also renewed its call for an immediate ceasefire and the unimpeded delivery of emergency relief supplies.
Reaffirming its commitment, the government expressed support for regional and international efforts to end Sudan’s deepening conflict, while underlining the importance of advancing the Sudanese people’s hopes for peace and stability.
