Dubai: Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation, launched Dubai 10x 2.0 at the World Government Summit on Monday.
Last year, at the same summit, Dubai 10x was launched by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to place Dubai ahead of other cities in the world by 10 years.
Under the leadership of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, 36 entities pitched over 160 ideas, which were whittled down to the top 26.
These ideas were on display at the Dubai 10x stall at the World Government Summit.
Speaking to Gulf News, Amer Abdul Raoof, Director of Dubai 10x said: “Shaikh Hamdan approved 26 projects with one goal – that Dubai implement what other cities of the world will implement in 10 years.
"Now, we have announced the name of the entitites and the type of projects and we also have a big show that happens at scheduled timings at the World Government Summit.”
10x better service
He added: “What we are trying to do is disrupt the way our government works because we want to deliver government services for everyone in Dubai, service that is 10 times better, 10 times faster and 10 times more efficient.”
The focus of Dubai 10x 2.0 is to allow the government entities to collaborate to find “disruptive” ways of improving government services across Dubai.
Ideas
These are some of the ideas that are expected to be implemented within Dubai in the next two years:
Digital Dewa — The world’s first autonomous renewable energy digital utility.
The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) will map genomes of the entire population including residents and use AI to analyse genetic data to change the face of medical care through personalised medicine and prior detection of individuals at risk.
Smart Police Stations — Dubai Police has already installed Smart Police Stations as part of it’s vision to deliver services in a faster and more efficient manner. With it’s focus on “policing without policemen”, Dubai Police will offer various services like “Dubai Eyes”, surveillance blimps and a station in a patrol (effectively turning police patrols into police stations).
The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA)’s 10x project is called Rahhal, a tailored system which allows students to have more learning opportunities anywhere and anytime.
Dubai Airports — transforming Dubai into a city-wide concourse for travellers by offering passengers the freedom to leave the airport and enjoy the city or if their transit time is less than four hours, to give them a virtual tour of the city.
