Sharjah: Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, on Wednesday attended the first Learning Difficulties Conference, entitled, “For a Better Education”, at Al Qasimia University Theatre.

The two-day conference sheds light on the problems of learning difficulties and the most significant issues related to them. It also shares experiences and scientific researches related to learning difficulties.

Delivering the opening speech, Hanadi Al Suwaidi, general coordinator of the conference and director of Sharjah Centre for Learning Difficulties (SCLD), praised the essential role of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in supporting issues of people with disabilities. Al Suwaidi extended sincere gratitude for Dr Shaikh Sultan’s initiative of establishing the SCLD, which aims to empower students with learning disabilities and responding to their needs.

She also lauded the efforts of the Crown Prince for supporting the conference, stressing that the aim of the conference is to raise awareness of the community, organisers, employees, parents, researchers and specialists in the field of learning difficulties and other fields of education.

During the event, a documentary film featuring the SCLD’s educational role, initiatives, and programmes will be shown.

The Sharjah Crown Prince honoured the partners and supporters of the conference, and the conference organisers presented a souvenir to Shaikh Sultan, for sponsoring the event.

The conference, being held in partnership with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Community Development, aims at helping teachers in public schools to discover and develop the skills of students with learning disabilities.
