Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday met a number of doctors heading regional and international dermatology associations that are taking part in the Dubai World Dermatology and Laser Conference and Exhibition, which is being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre with over 83 participating countries, including the UAE.

Shaikh Mohammad, accompanied by Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, toured the exhibition. He also viewed the 350 companies’ new exhibits in cosmetics, dermatology, and skin care areas.

Shaikh Mohammad welcomed the doctors representing dermatological associations, federations, unions, and academies from across the globe. He also listened to presentations regarding dermatology-related modern techniques, research and studies, and their views on the development of these technologies that are going to make great transformations in the methods of treating skin diseases that are widespread in areas with high temperatures.

During the meeting, the doctors also explained the mechanism of organising and hosting the World Congress of Dermatology which is held every five years. The last conference was hosted by South Korea in 2010 and will be held in Vancouver, Canada in 2015. Dubai will also enter the competition for hosting the 2020 conference with Brazil, Italy, the Czech Republic, and China, which will coincide with the Dubai Expo 2020

Shaikh Mohammad stressed that Dubai is capable, through its establishments and work teams, of hosting any world event regardless of its size and number of participants due to the fact that it has long experience in hosting such events and making them a success.

Shaikh Mohammad also called upon the specialised authorities in the country to work relentlessly as a team to win the bid to host this world competition.
