Dubai:  His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, led the Commemoration Day ceremony at Wahat Al Karama on Thursday morning. He also led the one minute of silence held at 11.30am for the fallen heroes of the country.

“All of us today across the nation stand with pride as we celebrate our heroic martyrs. Our hearts beat with them and with their sacrifices and selfless acts. They will never leave us but will be ingrained in our memory and in every house and every area of our good land,” he said in a tweet.

In Dubai, the Media Office said: “Our martyrs are a source of pride and honour and their sacrifices will remain forever in the memory of our nation.”

The Martyrs' Families' Affairs Office on Thursday expressed their gratitude to the nation in remembering its heroes on Commemoration Day.

"Thank you for your participation in #The_ UAE_ Remembers and joining us in expressing our pride and gratitude for the UAE's heroes."

Earlier UAE flags were flying half-mast from 8 am onwards as the nation saluted the memory of those who sacrificed their lives for the country, on the Commemoration Day.
