Abu Dhabi: The Department of Naturalisation, Residency and Ports at the Ministry of Interior has amended and updated the contract form for domestic help after four years.

The contract form was amended after assessing its implementation in the past. Maj Gen Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Acting Assistant Undersecretary at the ministry for Naturalisation, Residency and Ports Affairs, said.

The new contract takes into account different changes and aims to regulate relations between domestic workers and their employers. It is also the only accepted reference in determining the obligations of both parties, based on the legal provisions, he said.

Maj Gen Al Khaili said the new contract shall enter into force on June 1, 2014. It will be available for all via e-services.

He said the amendment was part of many measures taken by the ministry to address the problems of domestic helpers reported in the past.
