Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki due to arrive in UAE

Abu Dhabi: Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki is due to arrive in the UAE on Sunday, Iraqi media said.

Al Maliki will meet President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and other officials during his two-day visit.

The landmark trip comes after UAE Foreign Minister Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan flew to Baghdad last month.

During the visit, the first by a top Gulf Arab official since the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003, Shaikh Abdullah announced the UAE's plans to name an ambassador to Iraq.

Al Maliki welcomed the announcement and upheld UAE's "efforts to enhance diplomatic Arab representation in Iraq".
