Illegal resident jailed in Dubai for harassing woman, faces deportation

Dubai: Dubai police have arrested an Asian man accused of verbally and physically harassing a woman in a public area near a residential building, according to court records.

Prosecutors said the man admitted to the charge during questioning and was subsequently referred to the Misdemeanor and Violations Court.

Authorities also determined that he had been residing in the country illegally for about 18 months after his employment and residency permits expired.

The court found him guilty and sentenced him to one month in jail, followed by deportation.
