Dubai: The UAE is keen on consolidating a culture of innovation in governments and between individuals, and disseminating it to build a generation of Arab innovators and future leaders, said His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Shaikh Mohammad said that this is a part of the UAE’s approach to invest in and boost the capabilities of human capital, which will contribute to establishing work models and solutions for future challenges.

The Vice-President made the remarks as he inaugurated the Ibtekr (Arabic for Innovate) platform. Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, was present.

The platform’s goal is to disseminate a culture and concepts of innovation, as well as modern innovative tools and global approaches. It will motivate young Arab minds and develop their creative spirit. “For the Arab world to cross into the future, we need to empower young generations with knowledge. The prosperity of nations is linked to its capabilities in creating an environment that nurtures modern sciences. We believe that government innovation is the foundation for all types of development and the driving force for shaping the future,” Shaikh Mohammad said.

The Ibtekr platform that can be accessed by visiting www.ibtekr.gov.ae includes the government innovation labs course for shaping the future, which is a comprehensive academic course that introduces government innovation labs and ways to implement them in the work environment of government bodies. It will provide leaders with comprehensive tools and acquaint them with the best brainstorming practices to come up with innovation solutions that can be feasibly implemented.

Course registration will begin in the current month on the platform’s website, and the course sessions will officially begin in June. Participants will undergo four hours of tuition, one hour a week. The course targets employees from the public and private sectors, as well as innovation enthusiasts.
