Hamdan issues order setting geological map prices

Abu Dhabi: Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance and Industry, has issued ministerial directive No. 268 of 2006 on collection of sale revenues of geological maps, explanation booklets for the maps and geological and geophysical reports resulting from the detailed geological mapping project of the mountainous and adjacent areas.

Article 1 of the directive says reports on airborne magnetic and radiometric surveys consisting of 10 volumes and 120 maps and images will be sold at the price of Dh25,000.

Article 2 of the directive sets the prices of geological maps of different scales (see table). These maps are available with explanation as well as without explanation.

Article 3 of the directive says the Ministry of Energy will not be liable for shipping costs of the maps, explanation booklets or reports sold.

Reports on the deep seismic survey consisting of 3 volumes and 20 seismic sections are priced at Dh30,000.

Reports on advanced seismic interpretation consisting of 4 volumes are priced at Dh15,000.

The geology and geophysics reports consisting of 5 volumes will cost Dh3,000.

Article 4 of the order says all relevant bodies are required to implement this directive. The directive also supersedes laws in contradiction or opposition to it and will be enforced 15 days after its publication in the official gazette.
