Dubai: Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, chaired yesterday at the Emirates Towers an Executive Council meeting.

Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and First Deputy Chairman of the council, was present.

During the meeting, Shaikh Hamdan ordered the setting up a Higher Committee that will be chaired by Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chairman of Dubai Police and General Security.

The committee will be responsible for improving the residential database of the emirate of Dubai, and will include members from the relevant bodies. The database will be used for future references and strategic planning.

Shaikh Hamdan approved setting up the Emirates Maritime Control Centre, which will specialise in settling disputes arising from maritime commercial procedures and enhancing Dubai’s position as a maritime hub.

Shaikh Hamdan instructed all government bodies and authorities in Dubai to follow in the experimental footsteps of Dubai Police in issuing official documents electronically and through its smart applications. He said that such steps are in line with the government’s strategy to make Dubai the smartest city in the world.

He also approved establishing the Virtual Communications Centre, which will offer a platform that includes all governmental bodies. The centre will act as a preliminary step towards the project to set up a unified Dubai government communication centre, which will be the key destination for customer inquiries.

The council reviewed results of a study in 2013 dealing with progress of work on setting up the unified communication centre, which will contribute to reducing the expenses of government call centres by 14 to 20 per cent.

Shaikh Hamdan ordered working on the applications of school and university students in Dubai in order to train them in voluntary work so they can participate in organising the Dubai World Expo 2020. The move aims to encourage and support voluntary work and allow national cadres to contribute to this massive project being implemented by Dubai.
