Abu Dhabi: The navies of members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have concluded the Khaleej Al Salam 15 (Gulf of Peace) military naval exercise conducted in the UAE on October 10-11th as part of an annual joint training.
The trilateral war games were conducted by the Coast Guard forces of Oman, the UAE and Qatar, with Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Kuwait as observers.
Khaleej Al Salam 15 is one in a series of annual training exercises aimed at promoting joint military cooperation between the GCC coast guard forces in a real war situation, enhancing combat preparedness and cooperation in joint naval operations to counter any challenges to the GCC states.
Other goals include standardising operational concepts, integrating joint naval operations, exchanging knowledge and experience, and training in fighting drug smuggling, search and rescue operations and cross-border infiltration.
