Dubai: Work on the Dh24 million new Dubai Municipality Centre in Al Kefaf, near Al Karama, is now complete with an electric charging station available for residents owning electric cars, the municipality announced yesterday.

The new two-storey centre close to Al Karama and Al Jafliya Metro station will provide all kinds of municipal services to residents living close to that area, said Hussain Nasser Lootah, director-general of Dubai Municipality, adding that the project is 100 per cent compliant with green building standards.

The completion of the project is said to achieve the vision of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in preserving natural resources and building a green economy and an environmentally sustainable city, he said.

“This also comes as part of Dubai’s goal in boosting the quality of life in the city and Dubai Municipality’s aim to improve its services for customers. The new centre in Al Kefaf will be bigger than the Al Manara and Al Twar centres and will provide a wide range of government services from various government departments in the UAE,” said Lootah.

Speaking about the new centre in more detail, which will begin operation soon, Mohammad Mashroom, General Manager of the Public Projects Department, said the centre has a main building with front counters, offices, and waiting areas, including multifunctional halls. “The centre has been developed on an overall area of 60,000 square metres and has two elevators and two escalators.”

Visitors can also use the electric charging stations, he said, through card payments accepted by the municipality.
