Dubai: The results that have been achieved in the first batch of the Dubai Government Accelerators (DGA) have exceeded set goals in record time, and this reflects the capability of Emiratis in facing challenges, said His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Shaikh Mohammad made the remarks when he visited the DGA headquarters, where he was briefed on the second batch of challenges that the accelerators will tackle, and the results achieved for the first batch of objectives that were set in October. Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, were present.

Shaikh Mohammad said the UAE government is a government of results, and that the most important result that it is striving to achieve is to provide the best standard of government services in the world. He said this will help make people happy and make their life easier.

“The DGA experience represents a unique model for government work through which various bodies work as one capable and productive team that adopts innovation for improving services and accomplishing achievements that exceed set aspirations and goals.

“Under the directives of my brother, President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE government is striving towards global leadership by possessing motives for progress and comprehensive development by improving work mechanisms for the future and developing government accelerators,” said Shaikh Mohammad.

“The results achieved in the first set of goals lead to optimism, exceeding the set goals in record time. We are looking forward to further improving this momentum and shifting it into new levels in the process to achieve the second group of goals. We want similar accomplishments to be made in all fields of governmental work,” added Shaikh Mohammad.

Also accompanying Shaikh Mohammad were Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future, Saqr Ghobash, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, Suhail Mohammad Faraj Al Mazroui, Minister of Energy, Dr Abdullah Mohammad Bel Haif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development, Najla Mohammad Al Awar, Minister of Community Development, and Uhoud Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Happiness.

Dubai Government Accelerators provides a number of services to support a number of government bodies, with the aim of speeding up the implementation of the National Agenda’s goals in four key areas: the national indexes, policies, programmes and initiatives, and government services. This will be done by forming joint teams between different government bodies to address challenges and achieve goals, consolidating a culture of government innovation and achieving excellence in government work by implementing projects using leading work methods to attain quick and sustainable results.

 

First set of goals completed by DGA:

Reducing traffic accident fatalities on the five most dangerous roads by a rate of 21 per cent. Fatalities were reduced by 63 per cent, three times the original set goal.

Improving air quality by 10 per cent, equal to reducing the carbon emissions of 280,000 vehicles in 100 days. DGA team succeeded in reducing carbon emissions by 16 per cent in 99 days, exceeding the set goal by 160 per cent, the equivalent of removing 480,000 vehicles from roads.

Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation provided 1,000 job opportunities for Emirati jobseekers within 75 days. Ministry was able to provide 1,080 Emiratis with jobs in the financial sector.

100 per cent of Emirati children enrolling in Kindergartens in 90 days, Goal was achieved in 48 days.

Ministry of Economy worked on boosting the number of students registering for patents within 100 days by five times the original rate. The original goal set was 20 patent applications; ministry was able to register 27 patent applications from students.

A joint team by the Ministry of Economy and Securities and Commodities Authority was able to issue a legal statute on risk capital by 50 days.

In 100 days, the Ministry of Health and Prevention had to provide breast cancer screening for 2,000 women who are older than 40 in Fujairah. Ministry provided screening for more than 2,000 women in 83 days.

Second set of new goals:

The Ministry of Interior will lead two work teams to overcome two challenges:

Delivery of identification documents of Emirati new born in one visit instead of seven visits using the package of “Congratulations on The New Born”

Reducing time spent for the issuance of a residency visa by 50 per cent for newcomers

The Ministry of Community Development’s team will work to increase the number of customers visiting the Social Development Centre in Ajman to ten times within a hundred days

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation will take the responsibility of examining and resolving labour complaints in ten days, down from 30 days.

The General Pension and Social Security Authority to help Emiratis receive their first pension, salary and end of service gratuity within 40 days of the end of service.

The Shaikh Zayed Housing programme will be tasked to ensure that 90 per cent of Emiratis will benefit from residential support services in Sharjah and Fujairah within a hundred days.

Telecommunication Regulatory Authority will enable customers to get smart government services of seven government bodies without identification documents in a hundred days

FEWA will work to improve electric services by reducing time spent for electric connectivity for new houses of Emirati citizens in Ajman from 47 days to 14 days
