Abu Dhabi: A civil court in Al Ain has ordered two men to jointly pay Dh250,000 in compensation to a man whose two trucks were stolen and resold under suspicious circumstances.

The truck owner filed the case, seeking reimbursement of Dh220,000, the value of the stolen vehicles, along with an additional Dh30,000 for material and emotional damages.

Court documents revealed that one defendant was directly involved in the theft, while the other acquired the trucks despite circumstances that should have raised doubts about their origin and true value.

In its ruling, the court said the men’s prior criminal conviction for theft established their civil liability. Judges noted that the plaintiff suffered both financial loss from the disappearance of his vehicles and psychological distress as a result of the crime.

The court ordered the two defendants to pay the full compensation amount, in addition to court fees and expenses, holding them equally responsible for the damages.
