Girl gives her savings to children of female inmates

Dubai: An Emirati 10-year-old girl has donated her own hard-earned personal savings to children of female inmates in Al Aweer detention centre, Dubai Police said on Thursday.

Brigadier Ali Al Shamali, director of the Correctional and Punitive Establishments Department at Dubai Police, said they were overwhelmed by the donation by the little girl who sent her coin container to the Central Jail, asking police to use it for the benefit of the children with their mothers in the jail.

“She did not want her name mentioned and sent the coin container to the Central Jail. I feel grateful and want to thank the girl for her humane and charitable gesture and thank her family for raising her with good manners,” Brig Al Shamali said.

When police opened the container, they found Dh7,062 inside.
