Dubai: A one-year-old girl was killed in a house fire in the Murishd area of Fujairah on Tuesday.

The Emirati girl, identified as A.H.D., died from burns and smoke inhalation at around 4pm, 12 hours after the blaze began, an official at Fujairah Civil Defence told Gulf News.

The civil defence operation room received a call at about 4am on Tuesday. When firefighters reached the house, they found it covered with thick black smoke.

Firefighters were able to rescue the rest of the family before transferred them to Fujairah hospital, the official said.

The family, which consists of a father, mother, two boys and three girls, all suffered from smoke inhalation. Just the one-year-old girl suffered burns in the incident.

Police and forensic experts were sifting through the rubble of the burned-out house to determine the cause of the fire, which destroyed the house.
