Garfield will be performing live at the Town Centre mall in Jumeirah today starting from 5pm onwards, according to the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), Food Surprises Week organisers.

Garfield's performance at the Town Centre will include four 20-minute shows - two each in English and Arabic. The first begins at 5pm and the last at 9pm.

Garfield performed at Deira City Centre's main stage, enchanting children and singing and dancing hilarious songs and dances about why he loves his food so much. there was also a cooking demonstration.

"This is the first time that Garfield is performing live in the region and children are really loving his funny antics more so because he is versatile and performs in Arabic as well," said DTCM Deputy Manager Events, Marwan Juma bin Beyat.

"Garfield is the world's most hilarious feline and has mass appeal across all age groups and will prove very popular with the young and old alike," he added.

Garfield in costume is a larger than life version of the character people know and love. It stands nearly six feet tall with a girth equal to his mirth. Kids of all ages light up when Garfield is near.

"We are amazed at the response that Garfield is receiving from children and adults alike wherever he is performing," said Louis Hakim, regional marketing manager (Middle East and Africa) of Philips, event sponsors.

"Garfield is a star performer and his shows are as much fun as his comic strips are readable."

Garfield has appeared in TV shows, received Emmy awards, and has turned into one of the most visible multimedia comic characters over the years.

Garfield's sassy brand of humour and quick-wit are proving popular with residents and visitors in Dubai across all age groups as crowds line up the malls to enjoy his performances every day.

At Deira City Centre, five-year-old Patricia Harb, from Beirut, said: "I have a Garfield at home, and Garfield slippers. I am so happy to say hello to a really big Garfield and I like the way he cooked his food."

The Garfield show finished with the feline host himself throwing gifts out to the audience that had everyone cheering for more.

The Garfield Show is rotated throughout Dubai's prominent shopping malls.
