Fujairah's major hotels and motels are offering attractive and cheap Iftar meals for fasting customers during Ramadan, and are recording approximately 60 per cent occupancy during this month.

Some hotels have several offers of Iftar meals for their Muslim clients, which are accompanied by entertainment.

Fouad Melhem, General Manager of Al Diar Siji Hotel, said that they prepare a big Iftar buffet every day with a variety of delicacies at reasonable prices.

"We have installed a big Ramadan tent on the roof of our hotel to enable our customers to enjoy their evenings while listening to music and taking part in games which enable them to win big prizes," noted Melhem.

He added that reservation of rooms at Al Diar Siji Hotel this Ramadan is better than the same period last year. They have recorded more than 55 per cent occupancy of the hotel's 71 rooms and 19 residential suites, which reaches up to 90 per cent during weekends.

Ali Ahmed, Business Development Manager at Fujairah Hilton Hotel, said that they are offering Iftar meals, but without any special entertainment.

"Most of our guests are a mixture of European and American businessmen and tourists who usually come for some days. Just a few nationals and Arab expatriates come here to enjoy their Iftar meals. We record more than 60 per cent occupancy in our 92 rooms and suites this time of the year," added Ahmed.

The Ritz Plaza Hotel is another city hotel well-known for its Ramadan offers and delicacies.

"We offer Iftar and Suhur meals at very cheap prices to attract more fasting clients to come to our hotel. A large number of customers visit us to enjoy their Ramadan nights," said Sheldon Hindrex, Front Office Manager at the Ritz Plaza Hotel, adding that they had also recorded around 60 per cent occupancy of its 65 rooms.
