Sharjah: A huge fire gutted a warehouse in Industrial Area 11 on Wednesday morning, a senior Civil Defence official confirmed.
The fire broke out at 11.30am. Teams were dispatched from Samnan station and the Sharjah Civil Defence headquarters in Al Saja’a and Muwaileh to control the fire, Brigadier General Abdullah Saeed Al Suwaidi, director-general of Sharjah Civil Defence, told Gulf News.
The warehouse contained tyres and material for repairing cars.
He said: “We immediately took the necessary precautions in the neighbourhood in order to prevent the fire from spreading since the materials in the warehouse were highly inflammable.”
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. There were no reports of casualties.
