Fire destroys supermarket in Sharjah

Police believe electrical short may be to blame as Dh1m worth of goods are lost

Sharjah: A supermarket has been gutted in King Faisal Road in Sharjah after a fire broke out in the early hours on Saturday.

“Fire broke out in Al Suez Supermarket around 4am after the supermarket shut shop at around 10pm,” one of the supermarket staff told Gulf News

“10 people work in the supermarket, in shifts from 9am–10pm,” he added

Goods worth Dh1 million were lost in the fire.

The police are investigating the case and initial reports suggest the fire might have started due to an electrical short circuit.
