Fire destroys electrical equipment stored in Al Ain warehouse

Al Ain: A fire destroyed electrical equipment stored in a private warehouse in Mezyyd District, Al Ain, on Monday afternoon.

The fire broke out at around 5pm in the warehouse, belonging to a general contracting company, and firefighters took several hours to put it off.

Police and fire-brigade are still investigating the cause of the fire.

Huge column of thick black smoke spread around the area that has offices, workshops and warehouses of a large number of private companies.

The smoke columns were visible far away from the site.

The police and fire-brigade units reacted instantly and cordoned off the area. The fire was extinguished soon after sunset. Nobody was reportedly injured in the incident.

P.V. Murli, a worker of a neighbouring company, said the warehouse had a huge number of electrical equipment such as transformers, wires, and electrical fittings worth millions of dirhams.
