Filipino Chess Players League from today

The FCPL Invitational chess tournament is scheduled to begin today at the Taj Palace hotel, Dubai from 9 am with 8 teams vying for the top honors.

Beth Walinton, Officer, Philippines Embassy, Overseas Workers Welfare Officer will inaugurate the tournament and the event will be held in a all play all league system on seven rounds.

There are awards, trophies and medals for the top three teams apart from individual medals for the best performance in the boards. The main sponsors are Insportz while ABS, CBN, Air link, International marketing services and Philippine medical centre are the support sponsors. A total cash price fund of Dh 3100 and trophies will be distributed to the winners.

Teams from Dubal, Dubai Dry Docks, Philippine Express International, Fujairah National Bunker, P.N. Bank, Pearl, IN Sportz and Lebanon are participating. There will be a special event for children.
