Fast mover: Jobseeker racks up fines
Going job hunting in a luxury sports car was never a good idea.
And, perhaps no one would agree with this more than Dubai resident Andrew Blair.
The 28-year-old UK national has clocked fines of Dh3,400 in just 20 days, while driving around town with his name, job title and cell phone number and “made redundant today'' scrawled on the back of his Porsche Boxster in capital letters.
According to the Dubai Police website, Blair, has 12 black points from 36 traffic violations since July 2008. The most serious of these offences are in January, when he lost his job as a construction project manager. The offences include a Dh1,000 ticket for exceeding the maximum speed limit by 60 kilometres on January 16, just a day after he was made redundant.
“I will be more careful in the future. I didn't realise that instead of getting a job, I would end up with fines; so many of them,'' Blair, who is taking lessons in safe driving, told XPRESS. He said he would pay off his fines as he wanted to live in Dubai for many years.
