Dubai: The Dubai Foundation for Women and Children organised a fashion show, a silent auction and a charity souq during their annual charity Iftar last Tuesday.

The funds raised at the charity Iftar will be used to support women and children who have been exposed to domestic violence, child abuse and human trafficking.

"We had an incredible crowd that contributed greatly to the foundation and its cause. They contributed around Dh 45,000," said Ohood Al Suwaidi, communication director of the Foundation. "These funds will support the rehabilitation programmes at the foundation," she said.

The fashion show displayed the latest creations for Ramadan and Eid designed by Emirati and expatriate designers. The designers were Homa Q, Nabrman Fashion and Design, Qiana, Noon Haute Couture, Das Collection, Rouge Coutour and Medici.

"I feel so proud to be part of this fashion show, considering the cause of the foundation and of course, the Ramadan season," said Hessa, a 21-year-old Emirati Abaya designer.

The designers also contributed in the Charity souq and a percentage is going to be contributed to the foundation and its cause, said the director.

The charity Iftar also featured paintings of Emirati artists such as Abdul Raheem Salem, Noor Al Suwaidi, Obaid Al Mass as well as the British artist, designer and photographer Greg Sedgwick.

The Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) is the first licensed non-profit organisation for women and children victims of domestic violence, child abuse, and trafficking.
