Al Ain: Urging people doing things in a better way while protecting environment and public safety, the Public Health Division on Sunday launched a public awareness campaign.
The objective of the campaign is to educate people about environmental and health safety issues in the building and construction sector in Al Ain, said Dr Salim Khalfan Al Ka'abi, Director of the Public Health Division (PHD), at a press conference.
The six week long campaign is part of a Abu Dhabi-wide drive during which people will also be appraised about the achievements of the Building and Construction Sector Environment and Health Safety Department, which operates under the PHD, over the last two years, he said.
The system, he said, is an integrated management arrangement that takes into consideration all aspects related to the protection of environment, human health, safety of workers and the community at large. Implementing the system makes business sense as it reduces risk, builds employer trust, and leads to innovation by doing things in a better way, said Dr Al Ka'abi.
The department has been placing lamppost banners in 10 different locations in and around the city including Al Ain Mall, Al Bawadi Mall, Zakher Roundabout, Al Ain Street, and some remote areas such as Rimah, Al Shuwaib, Al Hair, and Suwaihan.
Engineer Ghuwaya Hamad Al Nuaimi, a senior official of the department, said some 30 illuminated sign boxes will also display messages on environment and health safety for the building and construction sector. The signs have been placed in the central district of the city.
A feature of the campaign will be the special stands in Al Ain Mall and Al Bawadi Mall that will open from March 8 until May 2. They will be staffed by EHS Inspectors who will assist people in understanding the work of the EHS Department. Newsletters and information leaflets will also be available, he said.
