Abu Dhabi: The Commission of Environmental Research (CER) launched the fifth round of its ‘Our environment through a lens' photography contest.

The main theme behind the contest revolves around taking pictures on the negative effects of plastic bags on coastal and land environments.

Under the directives of Shaikh Sultan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President's Representative and Chairman of the Emirates Heritage Club, the value of the award prizes has been increased from Dh22,000 to Dh124,000.

The CER, which is part of the Emirates Heritage club, said August 3 is the deadline for receiving entries.

Registration

The commission also said that those willing to participate in the contest can do so by filling out the registration form available on the website www.torath.ae. It also added that the contest targets both hobbyists and professionals in the field of photography.

The commission said the contest is also in line with the club's objectives of encouraging photographers to participate in contests and is meant to highlight the harmful effects of plastic bags on the environment, as well as creating awareness on environmental issues and curbing such dangers of ocean and land pollution.
