Al Ain: An operation to control the problem of pests and stray animals in the southern part of Al Ain has been launched.
A Centre of Waste Management-Abu Dhabi official said the centre had acquired the services of a specialist company to control various kind of pests such as flies, mosquitoes, cockroaches, rodents and snakes, in addition to the problem of stray cats and dogs.
“They will follow the international humane standards for dealing with the animals, and for impounding different stray medium to big size animals,” said the official.
The operation was launched on Monday under a two year-renewable contract.
Integrated pest management (IPM) techniques will be used in the control programme along with physical control methods, green products and low-toxic pesticides for minimal impact on the environment and the public.
