Dubai: Isolated showers and thunderstorms could hit the coast and some interior parts of Dubai and the northern emirates over the week, a duty forecaster at the Dubai Met Office said on Wednesday.

"On and off showers will continue on Wednesday and Thursday and will settle on Friday afternoon when it will turn sunny," Harriet Williams, duty forecaster, said.

According to the forecaster, Ras Al Khaimah experienced heavy rain on Tuesday night.

"Rain is not unusual during this time of the year and is caused by the north-westerly winds when they come to the Gulf, developing in to unstable cold air," she said.

4.6 millimetres of rain was recorded at the Dubai International Airport on Wednesday morning.

Wind speed on Thursday afternoon will be 10 to 15 knots, with partly cloudy skies.

On Thursday, the minimum temperature is expected to be 16 degrees Celsius with a maximum of 22 degrees Celsius. Currently, humidity is at 80 per cent.
