Gulf News receives Outstanding Environmental Publication award
Dubai: The environment, health and safety awards 2008 held on Thursday in Dubai saw Gulf News being awarded with the Outstanding Environmental Publication on behalf of Trakhees Environment, Health and Safety (EHS), Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC).
The awards ceremony was held under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council.
The awards were handed out by Ahmad Butti, executive chairman of ports, customs and the freezone corporation.
First place
Lieutenant General Dahy Khalfan Tameem collected the first place award on behalf of Dubai Police Headquarters for the Dubai World Business Unit and Government Department Category.
In the Construction Safety Category, the first place winner was Laing O'rourke.
In the Environmental Safety Category, the first place winner was Total Lubricants Blending UAE Company.
Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry won the first prize in the Green Building Category.
Nico International won the Ports and Maritime Category for large ship repair and port operations activities. Solas Marine Services won the medium ship repair and port operations activities award.
In total 35 awards were handed out in categories including food safety, fire fighting systems as well as service and production.
Awards will be presented annually to deserving companies to recognise Business Units in environment, health and safety innovation and excellence.
