EEG lecture Forum discusses water, energy demands
Dubai: One of the biggest challenges the country is facing is how to meet rising demands for water and energy, experts say.
The fifth community lecture by the Emirates Environment Group (EEG), held on April 26, focused on current water issues at the local, regional and international levels and solutions to these issues.
Participants mentioned the need to ensure adequate water supplies to maintain the country's level of growth and to meet one of the basic requirements of its citizens.
Despite the environmental challenges of desalination, it remains the most reliable option for arid regions of the planet in meeting the demand. Michel Zabe, Project Development Director at Acciona Agua ME, said that in order to achieve sustainability in the water sector, desalination processes should adopt advanced technology, reduce energy consumption and harness renewable energy sources.
Acciona Agua ME is a provider of sustainable development solutions through innovation and operation of water treatment and desalination plants around the world.
