Dubai: Thick fog blanketed parts of the UAE early morning on Wednesday and the worst hit was Jebel Ali where visibility was reduced to 100 meters, according to the Dubai Met Office.

Dubai Airport recorded patches of fog and visibility was 1,400 meters while at Abu Dhabi Airport it was down to less than a kilometer. There were no flight disruptions, according to airport operations managers and an Etihad spokesperson in Abu Dhabi.

The fog is because of westerly winds bringing moisture from the sea, according to Giorgio Alessio, duty forecaster at the Dubai Met Office. That coupled with the cold weather creates misty conditions early evening.

"It will be nice and pleasant weather, but chances of early morning fog will remain for the next three days," the duty forecaster said. The moderate winds of about 15 knots will again bring moisture inland. Humidity is ranging between 89 to 90 per cent. There is no chance of rain.

The police periodically give warnings to drive carefully this time of the year because of the early morning fog. Motorists are advised not to switch on their hazard lights.

The day time temperature will hover at 23 degree Celsius while nights will be cold at 15 degree Celsius inland, while along the coast it will be 10 degree Celsius.
