The father of Yousuf Ali M.A., a leading Indian businessman and Managing Director of EMKE Group, died yesterday at a hospital in the capital following injuries sustained in a road crash.
M.K. Abdul Qader, 74, was was travelling from Dubai to Abu Dhabi with his wife at the time of the accident in April. They were both seriously injured and Qader's wife succumbed to her injuries soon after.
Qader was admitted to Sheikh Khalifa Medical Centre and continued to fight for his life for two months but lost the battle at around noon yesterday.
An executive of the EMKE Group said Qader's body will be taken for burial to his native town of Trichur in the Indian state of Kerala on Sunday. He said funeral prayers for Qader will be offered at 5pm on Saturday at the Central Hospital in Abu Dhabi.
