Dubai: Emirates Transport has fitted its Dubai Airport fleet of vehicles with devices for an electronic tracking system which will be used to monitor vehicles and drivers.

The federal transport and services company has 30 buses transferring employees inside the airport terminals and another 30 transporting employees to and from the airport.

The fleet is operated by 130 drivers, also provided by Emirates Transport.

Tariq Ziad Al Sedawi, Manager of the Transport & Rental Centre, part of Emirates Transport, said the movement of airport buses - used to transport employees - will now be monitored to make sure drivers adhere to set operations and procedures such as sticking to their travel routes, not exceeding road speed limits and being present at assigned points of assembly.

Also installed on buses, Al Sedawi said, were cameras that enable drivers to see the rear of their vehicles, as well as designated seats for women.

In all, Al Sedawi said, the Transport & Rental Centre has a fleet of 286 buses, 258 light vehicles and nearly 800 motorcycles.

Some of the centre’s other clients include Emirates airports, Emirates Flight Catering, the Free Zone, Jebel Ali Airport and Transguard.
