Abu Dhabi Police urge drivers to avoid stopping in the road and use safe exits
Abu Dhabi: A dramatic video released by Abu Dhabi Police highlights the dangerous consequences of unsafe driving. The footage shows an accident that could have been avoided if one of the drivers had parked in a safe location.
In the video, a minivan suddenly stopped in the middle of the road with its hazard lights flashing. A bus and two cars narrowly avoided colliding with the minivan. The situation escalated when passengers exited the minivan and attempted to cross the road, narrowly missing another passing car.
Moments later, another car struck the stationary vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and narrowly miss the pedestrians, preventing what could have been a devastating accident.
Seek the nearest exit
Abu Dhabi Police urged drivers not to stop in the middle of the road for any reason, advising them to proceed to the nearest exit to ensure both their safety and that of other road users, thus preventing serious accidents and traffic disruptions.
They emphasised the importance of staying focused while driving and avoiding distractions, which helps drivers remain alert to any signs of sudden vehicle malfunctions and respond in a timely and safe manner. Ignoring such situations, the police warned, can lead to traffic accidents.
Abu Dhabi Police regularly share footage on social media of accidents caused by motorists ignoring traffic regulations to raise awareness about the serious consequences of reckless driving.
The video is part of the Police’s Your Comment safety initiative, where clips are shared on social media to demonstrate the risks of various driving behaviors and encourage discussions on proper road etiquette.
