Sharjah: The National Guard’s Search and Rescue Centre has rescued two people who were in distress aboard a cargo ship 6.5 nautical miles off Al Hamriya Port in Sharjah.

The centre responded to a distress call for a medical emergency involving the two people.

In coordination with the Coast Guard, the location of the ship was identified, where a search and rescue boat was dispatched to transport the injured to port. They received immediate first aid. One of them was later transferred by National Ambulance to a hospital for further treatment.

The National Guard emphasised the importance of adhering to safety protocols and urged sea-goers to call the maritime emergency line 996 to ensure a rapid response and protect lives.
